Brett Moffitt, who earned his first win in the Camping World Truck Series last season, will compete in at least this season’s first two races with Red Horse Racing.

Moffitt won last season’s race at Michigan International Speedway for Red Horse while substituting for Matt Tifft, who missed several races following surgery to have a brain tumor removed.

Red Horse announced Friday that Moffitt would drive in the No. 7 Toyota in the season’s first two races at Daytona and Atlanta as a teammate to Timothy Peters.

The organization said it continues to search for additional sponsorship for both teams.

“I think we have put together a championship caliber team,” team owner Tom DeLoach said in a statement. “Our goal this year is to be in contention for wins and in the mix for the playoffs and the championship at the end of the year.”

Moffitt, 24, was the rookie of the year in 2015 in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and won nine races in the K&N Pro Series East from 2009 to 2012.

Butch Hylton will serve as Moffitt’s crew chief on the No. 7 team. Hylton has won eight times in the Xfinity series and eight times in the Truck series during his career.

Peters’ team will be led by crew chief Chad Kendrick, who first joined Red Horse Racing in 2009 and led Peters to his first win in 2009 at Martinsville, Va. Most recently, Kendrick worked with driver Daniel Hemric at Brad Keselowski Racing last season.
