Brett Moffitt, a Michael Waltrip Racing development driver who earned a career-high eighth-place finish in a substitute role Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, will drive the next three races for Front Row Motorsports.

Moffitt will replace David Ragan in the No. 34 Sprint Cup car for the race this weekend at Las Vegas as well as races at Phoenix and Fontana, California.

The 22-year-old Moffitt has eight career Sprint Cup starts and had a career day Sunday as the replacement for Brian Vickers, who will return to the MWR No. 55 car at Las Vegas after missing the opening two races because of offseason heart surgery.

The finish came at the most opportune time for Moffitt as Front Row sought a driver to replace Ragan, who is driving the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 car in place of the injured Kyle Busch. Joe Nemechekfilled in for Ragan at Atlanta and finished 33rd.

Moffitt has nine wins in NASCAR regional series competition and has primarily worked as a test driver for MWR and Toyota over the last three years.

"While he is committed to MWR, we are happy for him to gain further valuable experience and help ... Front Row Motorsports over the next few races," MWR co-owner Rob Kauffman said in a statement. "[Team owner] Bob [Jenkins] and Front Row were very gracious with our Toyota teammates at Joe Gibbs Racing after Kyle Busch's unfortunate injuries by allowing David Ragan to vacate the No. 34 to drive the No. 18. We will continue to work on future opportunities for Brett."

The Moffitt car will have sponsorship from the Jacksonville-based Shaw's Southern Belle Seafood at Las Vegas.
