Bojangles' Southern 500, Darlington Raceway, Darlington, S.C.

Brett Moffitt

No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford
Started: 40th
Finished: 36th

"That made for kind of a long night. I made a mistake early in the race and got some damage that sent us to the garage. I feel bad for the guys on my team and the No. 35 guys because I got them involved, too. But I guess that's part of the learning curve. But we got back out there, kept working on the car the rest of the race, and were able to gain back a bunch of spots. My first trip to Darlington was definitely a learning experience."

Cole Whitt

No. 35 Speed Stick Ford
Started: 37th
Finished: 43rd

"It's frustrating to have your night end so early. The guys worked hard all weekend on our Speed Stick Ford and we were just a victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And to have it happen within the first 10 laps of the race, it's really disappointing. But we will regroup and get ready for Richmond."

David Gilliland

No. 38 Love's Travel Stops Ford
Started: 38th
Finished: 27th

"Our car would get really, really loose after about 20 laps into a run. But we got it better. Like everybody else, we were trying to be smart with our tires, managing stickers and scuffs. And actually on our longest run of the night we were on our oldest set of tires. But that's just a product of Darlington. Everybody wants tires every time, and we went through a lot of sets today. But I'm proud of the finish. A 27th-place, lead-lap finish is respectable, our Love's Travel Stops Ford is in one piece, and we learned a lot."

Next Race:
