Brett Moffitt's No. 16 AISIN Group Toyota Tundra

On Track for Back-To-Back

Brett Moffitt and the No. 16 AISIN Group team enter Gateway Motorsports Park on a high after last weekend’s impactful victory at Iowa Speedway. Moffitt returns to action this weekend with the same Toyota Tundra that he drove to victory at his home track. He is now one of two drivers to claim multiple victories on the 2018 campaign and looks to score back-to-back victories for the first time in his career under the shadow of the Gateway Arch.

Gateway to Something New

For the first time this season, Moffitt enters a brand-new race track that he has never competed at in his career in any series. Saturday’s 160-lap contest will be the fifth race at Gateway MSP since the track rejoined the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule in 2014 and is one of two venues on which Moffitt has never competed. Gateway’s fresh coat of asphalt is expected to be a game changer and will be a new challenge to every driver in the field.

Brett Bleeds Blue

The St. Louis area has been “bleeding blue” since 1967 supporting the hometown St. Louis Blues, and Moffitt will do the same this weekend. For the first time in five races, the blue colors of AISIN Group return to the No. 16 Toyota Tundra. AISIN was a part of Moffitt’s breakout victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway in February and will serve as his primary sponsor for the sixth time this season. Moffitt is scheduled to visit AISIN’s Marion, IL on Thursday, June 21st, which is home to AISIN Electronics Illinois, AISIN Manufacturing Illinois, and AISIN Light Metals.

Season to Date

Moffitt cemented his championship legitimacy to the NASCAR world last Saturday at Iowa Speedway after leading 76 laps and picking up his second victory of the season. Through nine races, Moffitt has collected 11 playoff points which has placed him second on the Playoff Grid. He has amassed five top five and five top-10 finishes as well as one stage victory and 133 laps led. Moffitt has led laps in four races this season and has an average finish of 9.3.

Chassis Selection

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli and the HRE team turned chassis No. 009 around in a matter of days to compete at Gateway this weekend after last week’s win at Iowa. This is the second time this season the No. 16 team has executed a tight turnaround to prepare the same chassis for two consecutive weeks of competition. Before driving it to victory lane at Iowa, Moffitt guided chassis No. 009 to a third-place finish at Martinsville Speedway in March.

Tune In

FOX Sports’ live coverage from Gateway begins on Friday with coverage of final practice airing on FOX Sports 2 at 7:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, FOX Sports 1 will carry live coverage of qualifying at 5:30 p.m. ET followed by the 10th race of the NCWTS campaign at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Brett Moffitt Quote on shooting for consecutive wins:

“Last week was such a great feeling to be able to win at home at Iowa in front of family and friends. It was such a blessing to be able to win on Father’s Day weekend and to have my parents there made it even more special. I love racing in the Midwest. Some of the best race fans in the world are here and we have a great chance to go back-to-back this weekend at Gateway. The guys did and awesome job of turning this truck around from Iowa and I know we’ll have a fast AISIN Group Tundra when we get to the track on Friday.”

On making his Gateway debut:

“This is a place I haven’t raced at before, so it’s helpful to have an extra practice on Friday. The repave is probably going to be a bit of an equalizer for everyone this week. It’s definitely a unique track and unlike any place we race at all season. We’ve been really fast with this chassis both times we’ve brought it to the racetrack and I don’t think this weekend will be an exception. I’m sure everyone will be battling for track position and clean air on Saturday night, so we’ll need to stay on top of pit strategies throughout the race. Now that we have two wins, we can afford to be a little more aggressive and try to get two in a row for Toyota, TRD, AISIN and everyone that supports us.”
