MARTINSVILLE, VA – Defending NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Champion Brett Moffitt has job security at long last as he returns to GMS Racing for 2020.

With four wins in 2019 at GMS, Moffitt’s job security was not in question. Although last year, he and Hattori Racing Enterprises parted ways following a championship run. Now Moffitt once again leads the Playoff Grid with two races left before Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“I think it’s huge to be honest,” Moffitt admitted. “You know looking at what I had last year versus what GMS has, I came in with extremely high expectations. It took longer than I wanted to for us to run how I think we should have.

“But, we’re there now and we have speed every single week now. It’s just a lot of fun. Everyone’s on the same page. So, I think having all this momentum built, it’s only going to get better in the off season. “We already have plans of what we can do to make our team better as a whole for the organization. I think the balls are going to keep rolling. It’s not a step back at the beginning of next year. We’ll just keep going forward.”

Ironically, 2020 marks the first time that Moffitt will return to the same organization in consecutive years since 2012 and 2013. In those two seasons, the Grimes, IA native competed for Shige Hattori’s NASCAR K&N Pro Series East team. Without the added pressure of having to race for his livelihood, Moffitt can now focus on the final three races of the season. He is the defending winner at both ISM Raceway and Homestead.

“I mean the big picture, it takes a lot of pressure off my next three weeks in chasing the championship, knowing that I have a home in a very stable home and competitive home. It just only allows us to get better as a team.

“My thoughts aren’t elsewhere as far as where am I going to have a job next year. It’s only on being the best I can be and being the best teammate to these guys that I can be. So, it’s a huge relief and we’ll take advantage of it.”

Moffitt will focus on the No. 24 CMR Construction & Roofing Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 at Martinsville Speedway.
